CLASSES in a Quezon City high school were temporarily halted due to a bomb threat sent through social media on Monday morning.

Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director, said the bomb threat at the San Francisco High School in Barangay Bago Bantay occurred at around 6:23 a.m.

Maranan said the teacher got the bomb threat from an unidentified Facebook account. The teacher confided the threat to a co-worker who immediately alerted the police.

A team from the QCPD’s explosive and ordnance disposal (EOD) unit arrived and inspected the school for any explosives.

The school was declared safe at around 10:30 a.m., Maranan said in a Viber message.

The QCPD has asked the Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) for assistance in identifying the person behind the bomb threat.

It is the second time the school was hit by a bomb threat this year.

Last January, a Facebook user sent a message to the school’s assistant principal that terrorists put a bomb on the campus.
