UNITEAM senatorial candidate Herbert “Bistek” Bautista has appealed for government assistance to small and medium-scale businesses that are restarting after the pandemic wreaked havoc on the Philippine economy.

“For example, March of 2020, these businesses failed to start because of the pandemic,” said Bautista.

“Their workers who were also supposed to start in their jobs became unemployed,” said Bautista, who had generated thousands of jobs as mayor of Quezon City for 3 terms.

“Those are the ones that need government assistance,” he said.

Bautista cited the example of Europe and the United States (US) where businesses closed and needed new incentives to restart.

“That’s the same with assistance here so that they could start again but with the provision that all those who lost their jobs would be rehired,” said Bautista, who is running for senator on a platform of Internet reform, Livelihood for all, and Youth development, or ILY.

“These would benefit us all,” said Bautista, who is running under the Bongbong-Sara UniTeam ticket.

“Let’s give incentives to our businesses, the small ones and which are just starting and those who had closed down,” he said.

“They would need it,” Bautista added.
