A Metro Manila lawmaker urged ACT Teachers Party-list Representative France Castro to stay strong as she is facing a battle against former President Rodrigo Duterte.
According to Manila Representative Rolando Valeriano, Castro has every right to file a case especially if she thinks her life is being threatened.
Earlier, Castro filed a grave threat case against Duterte after the former President “threatened to kill her” which was aired over a television show.
Valeriano, chairman ng House Committee on Metro Manila Development, said every individual has the right to file charges if his or her rights is being abused.
He also advised Castro to be very vigilant and ensure her security since she is dealing with a powerful and influential person.
“Any citizen of this republic has the right to seek justice through the courts. Congresswoman Castro’s case against anyone that threatens her life is her right under the Constitution and our penal laws. It will perhaps be an uphill battle but she needs to be strong and courageous to fulfill this duty to herself and loved ones,” Valeriano said.
Castro expects fair treatment and judgment because Duterte has no immunity anymore.
