Batangas celebrates Earth Day
Earth Day was designated by the United Nations General Assembly in 2009 to raise global public awareness of the challenges to world order and all the life it supports.
In line with this, PG-ENRO implements various programs such as distributing forest and fruit-bearing tree seedlings to towns and organizations; conservation and planting of mangroves; continuous monitoring and assessment of water quality from seas, rivers and lakes; establishing and management of marine protected areas; cleaning of beaches and roadside; and teaching proper waste disposal, etc., in collaboration with local governments, academe members, non-government organizations and private organizations.
Despite the pandemic, celebration of Earth Day is encouraged through simple but meaningful activities, such as cleaning the environment, picking up trash, recycling and reusing utensils, proper waste disposal, planting plants and trees in yards or designated places in the community, avoiding the use of pesticides or plant chemicals, and conserving water.
