Back-rider killed in Cabanatuan encounter
CABANATUAN CITY — An armed back-rider on Tuesday was killed when he and his cohort engaged lawmen in a gunfight after evading an anti-criminality checkpoint in this city.
Checkpoint team leader Major Vinia T. Rocafort said the firefight occurred after the suspects who were on a motorcycle refused to stop after being flagged down on Bgy. Bantug Norte at 12:50 a.m. on Tuesday.
The operatives gave chase but the back-rider suddenly pulled out a short firearm and fired at the lawmen, who fired back.
The unidentified cohort managed to escape towards north direction.
Recovered at the encounter site were a cal.45 pistol, a cal. 45 empty slug, and three fired bullets for cal.9mm.
Probers requested members of the Scene of the Crime Operatives to process the crime scene.
