
B-Pier in sixth win
NORTHPORT Batang Pier kicked off the new year with a bang, posting a lopsided 106-89 victory over the Blackwater Bossing in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Six players, led by Joshua Munzon, finished in double figures for the Batang Pier of coach Bonnie Tan.
Munzon topscored with 20 points, including 4-of-7 three-pointers, while also contributing four rebounds, four assists, and four steals in 31 minutes of play.
Import Venky Jois also delivered a stellar performance, recording 19 points on 8-of-13 shooting, 20 rebounds, seven assists, three blocks, and two steals in 37 minutes.
Paul Zamar contributed 13 points, and JM Calma, Arvin Tolentino, and newly-acquired Kris Rosales each added 10 points to help the Batang Pier snap their two-game losing streak before the holiday break.
Rey Suerte showcased his scoring prowess with 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting and four rebounds in 21 minutes of action, while Christian David contributed 17 points and 11 rebounds for the coach Jeff Cariaso-mentored Bossing.
Puerto Rican import Chris Ortiz recorded a double-double with 14 points on 4-of-18 shooting and 13 rebounds in 36 minutes of play, Archie Concepcion chipped in 10 points, three rebounds and two assists.
