B-day party ends in smashing spree

AN alleged drunk golf club-wielding man for no apparent reason allegedly went on a smashing and verbal rampage, disrupting a birthday party celebration Sunday night in San Antonio, Nueva Ecija.

Town police head Major Rammel Ebarle said the suspect, a resident of Bgy. Sta. Cruz, allegedly went berserk and smashed with a golf club the tables being used during a birthday bash for the nephew of complainant Clarissa Torres, 28, single, also of the same barangay.

While smashing the tables, Ebarle said the suspect allegedly hurled invectives at the victims.

Staff Sgt. Lennen Miranda, officer-on-case said the victim, along with two other witnesses due sought refuge outside the house.

When police responded to the area, the suspect was allegedly nowhere to be found and the tables and chairs were all cleared-up and cleaned.

“Wala naman po nakitang dahilan ang complainant para gawin yun ng suspect. Parang nakainom daw ang suspect at bigla na lang sila nagulat sa nangyari,” Miranda told the Journal Group in a text message Monday.

Miranda said he together with two barangay tanods went to the suspect’s house to investigate the incident but this yielded negative result.

Charges for alarm and scandal and oral defamation are set to be filed against the suspect before the provincial prosecutor’s office.
