PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) Chief General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr. on Monday, commended a 12-man team from their Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Canine (EOD/K9) Group that flew to Maguindanao to help in search-and-retrieval operations in the province which was ravaged by severe tropical storm “Paeng” last week.

Azurin said the team from the PNP-EOD/K9 Group headed by Col. Albert Magno was airlifted to Maguindanao last Saturday to provide assistance in ongoing search-and-retrieval operations in the area.

The team and their search-and-rescue police service dogs have already extended assistance to flood-affected members of the Teduray ethnic community in the province.

Azurin said that the team had joined other law enforcement agencies in the ongoing search for other victims of the flash flood.

“On behalf of the more than 227,000 strong police of the PNP, I thank our PNP EOD/K9 unit for continued sacrifice and dedicated effort in the name of public service,” the PNP chief said.

“I appreciate your hard work, professionalism, dedication, and commitment, especially during this challenging time. Let us continuously serve as beacons of hope and vanguards of humanitarian action in the interest of national security and public safety,” he added.
