REP. Erwin Tulfo and ACT-CIS Partylist donated several boxes of antibiotics for leptospirosis to the Angat Buhay Foundation of former Vice President Leni Robredo

House Deputy Majority Leader Rep. Erwin Tulfo and the ACT-CIS Partylist on Wednesday (Oct. 30) donated almost 50 boxes or 5,000 capsules of Doxycycline, an antibiotic to treat people suffering from leptospirosis, to the Angat Buhay Foundation of former Vice President Leni Robredo.

The antibiotics would be distributed to victims of Severe Tropical Storm “Kristine” in the Bicol Region.

In a statement, Rep. Tulfo said that they sent the boxes of antibiotics after their office received several reports about the problem of leptospirosis in the Bicol Region, since many residents are still living in flooded areas and exposed to contracting the disease.

“Most of the calls we have been receiving, and there have also been reports in the social media, about the leptospirosis problem. So we immediately took action and acquired as many of these medicines as we can,” Tulfo said.

Rep. Tulfo explained that, “A large area of Camarines Sur is still submerged in floodwaters, especially Naga City, as an effect of Storm ‘Kristine’, and the residents are at risk of getting sick because they continue to wade through murky floodwaters.”

“This medicine would help protect the people and prevent them from getting sick with leptospirosis,” he added.

ACT-CIS Rep. Edvic Yap also said, “We would not grow tired of helping. For as long as there are people who are in need of assistance… the ACT-CIS will provide help.”

“The storm affected a large part of the country, so we even extended help to Northern Luzon,” said Rep. Jocelyn Tulfo of ACT-CIS Partylist.

It can be recalled that this is not the first time that Rep. Erwin Tulfo and ACT-CIS Partylist gave donations to the victims of “Kristine”.

Just last Oct. 24, they donated 2,000 sacks of rice and P1 million, which came from their personal funds, to those affected by the Storm “Kristine”.

“This is a small contribution from the ACT-CIS and Erwin Tulfo Action Center to our kababayans who are victims of floods and the storm. This is our way of helping our kababayans,” Tulfo said.

The offices of Tulfo and the ACT-CIS Partylist also coordinated with the Angat Buhay Foundation of former VP Robredo for an additional donation of 500 sacks of rice.

They also distributed 500 sacks of rice to Iriga City and other cities in the Bicol Region that were severely damaged by the storm.

Rep. Tulfo also sent P50,000 cash to the storm victims in San Guillermo Parish in Talisay, Batangas.

He also stressed that the ACT-CIS Partylist and the Erwin Tulfo Action Center would continue to render assistance to those affected by the storm.

“Now, we are closely monitoring the areas that would be hit by Super Typhoon ‘Leon’ because this could affect our kababayans in those places. We would continue to monitor so that we could immediately send help to our kababayans,” Tulfo added.
