THE widely followed dramedy, “Ang Himala ni Niño” is a prequel to TV5’s series, “Niña Niño,” with Maja Salvador and Noel Comia, Jr., that successfully premiered in 2021.

“After that success, we conceptualized the idea of ‘Ang Himala ni Niño’ in 2023 and the series premiered last year,” disclosed direk Thop Nazareno. “Ngayon masaya naming naibaba sa inyo ang kwento.

“On behalf of MQuest, CS Studio and TV5, we are happy that we are able to bring to you this inspiring series. We are grateful for the support.”

The beloved series has brought stories of faith, love, and hope into Filipino homes, and as the journey nears its end, the biggest miracle of all is yet to come.

Since its premiere in September last year, “Ang Himala ni Niño” has been an inspiration, reminding viewers of the power of faith, love and second chances.”

As the series enters its final two weeks, viewers can expect even more heartwarming moments and valuable lessons.

The show was awarded Best Values-Oriented Program at the 10th Platinum Stallion National Media Awards.

Child star Zion Cruz, who brought Niño’s story to life, was honored as Best Child Performer at the 38th PMPC Star Awards for Television and Child Star of the Year at the Platinum Stallion National Media Awards.

K Brosas also received the Platinum Stallion National Media Awards for TV Actress of the Year from Trinity University of Asia. She plays Mamay Gege in the series.

“Kahit ako, nagulat,” K said. “Akala ko prank. Up to now, hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala. Ang feeling ko, kaya nanalo ang character ko, nagustuhan ng mga students and faculty ng school sa dramedy na ginawa ko.

“Hindi ko kayang mag-drama in the past, so nagustuhan nila ang character ko (sa ‘Ang Himala ni Niño). At ‘yung naging tagapag-alaga ko kay Niño, naka relate sila sa akin.

“First time sa career ko na nabigyan ako ng parangal pagdating sa acting kaya maraming-maraming salamat.”

“Ang Himala ni Niño” also secured nominations at the 6th VP Choice Awards, including TV Series of the Year in the daytime category, TV Actor of the Year for Zion Cruz and TV Supporting Actor of the Year for Kych Minemoto, who plays Biboy.

Direk Thop can hardly believe all the accolades the program got even in such a short span on time being on daytime TV.

“Given the script is really good, the team is good, the stars are the ones giving life to the story,” direk Thop said. “That’s hard to assemble a good cast. But we did it, in front and at the back of the camera.

Kung gaano kaganda ang isang show, ganu’n din kasarap ang Samahan behind the camera. Natural siya. I think that was the reason Zion and Miss K won. They enjoy their characters.

“From Day 1, I told them to play with their roles and make the character their own. And whatever awards they got, pinaghirapan nila ‘yun.”

“Three years ago, inspired by the heartfelt journey of ‘Niña Niño,’ we thought of going into Niño’s character, viewing the world’s goodness through the eyes of a child,” shared Peter Edward Dizon, producer/creator of “Ang Himala ni Niño.”

“Today, with ‘Ang Himala ni Niño,’ we’ve realized that vision. MQuest Ventures, TV5 and our production team at CS Studios are grateful for the opportunity to share a story where kindness prevails, reminding us that there will always be hope – a place like Bukang Liwayway.”

In its final stretch, “Ang Himala ni Niño” delivers its most emotional moments yet. Lolo Mars (Freddie Webb) leaves behind final letters that find their way to those who need them most, sparking unexpected realizations that could change lives.

Victor (Cedrick Juan) refuses to back down as corruption threatens the town’s future, standing firm in his fight for justice. Niño (Zion Cruz) faces a difficult decision that could take him away from Bukang Liwayway forever.

Just as familiar faces return and old connections are rekindled, the community is met with one last challenge that will test their faith like never before. In their darkest moment, will hope be enough to bring them together? And what final miracle awaits?

Also in the cast are Carmi Martin as Madame Chona, Queenay Mercado as Cacai, Paulo Angeles as Noli, Anna Ramsay as Isabel with child stars Kenneth Mendoza as Butchoy, Achilles Ador as Joko, Ryrie Sophia as Kring Kring.

At the helm of the series is Thop Nazareno, with writers John Paul Bedia and Lawrence Nicodemus.

Witness the power of miracles, faith and love in the last two weeks of “Ang Himala ni Niño,” Mondays to Fridays, 11:15 a.m. on TV5 before “Eat Bulaga.” Be part of a finale that will leave a mark on your heart.

Freddie grateful to ‘Nino’

MEANWHILE, Freddie Webb first made a name for himself as a hardcourt hero in the seventies. Then, he tried acting on TV by joining the cast of the widely followed sitcom, “Chicks to Chicks,” that lasted for 14 years.

“Carmi (Martin) was a rising star at that time,” he recalled.

About his role in ‘Ang Himala nimNino’: “Maraming salamat po sa Inyo. You gave me a chance like this show. In life, there are certain portions of your life where you don’t always get what you prayed for. But you have been blessed. Once the Lord grants your prayer, you will be really thankful to Him.

“Meron siyang pinapa-abot sa ‘yo. Sinusubukan lamang ka niya. If you put that in your mind, we will really be blessed.”

“I am in my twilight years,” 82-year-old Freddie admitted. “Sometimes, things happen that you don’t expect. Why will I turn away from a role that is really very nice?

“I’ve done different roles in the past – drama series, comedy. When I saw my character in the media-con that we did, I told myself this is a challenge for me.

“I’m grateful for the role. I’m grateful for being able to still act because I’m already old. I’m really happy with the costars I’m working in this series. That comes from the bottom of my heart.

“When I got the role, I talked to God. I told him, ‘God, bahala na Kayo sa akin.’ I’m not that young anymore. I’m happy, I’m proud and forever grateful that I was a part of the series. I’m glad to be given the role of Lolo Mars.”

Freddie is grateful that their director, Thop Nazareno, sends him messages every after their taping ended.

“He would ask me, ‘Did you enjoy the taping?,” he shared. “I enjoyed a particular scene that we were able to give life to in our taping. Umiiyak kami.

“In all honesty, si Zion lang ang nakita kong may dimples na kasing lalim pwede kang maglaro ng jolens. Apple-faced pa siya. With his hair, pwedeng-pwede sa GQ.

“When I first saw him in our media-con, I told everyone, ‘You know, we hit the jackpot on Zion.’ He proved us right.

“I will not forget the kids who worked with us because everytime they see me, I always give them chocolates every time they greet me.”
