American jailed for ammunition possession in Mactan-Cebu airport
A 45-YEAR-OLD American national was arrested by agents of the Philippine National Police-Aviation Security Group for illegal possession of a cal. 9mm magazine containing 13 rounds of live ammunition at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport, AVSEGROUP director Brig. Gen. Christopher N. Abrahano said yesterday.
The official said that the United States citizen was placed under arrest after an image of a firearm magazine was detected in his checked-in baggage during a routine x-ray examination.
A manual inspection of the baggage made in the presence of the foreigner and members of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport Police Station of the AVSEGROUP led to the recovery of the loaded magazine.
The American failed to present legal documents to possess the loaded magazine prompting officers to arrest him.
The accused will be facing a criminal case for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearm and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013.
