Aga tinuhog sina Gretchen, Claudine at Julia
AGA Muhlach is one of the local showbiz’s most sought-after leading men, despite his age.
Now in his 50s, Aga still gets plum roles both in movies and TV shows. Maganda naman kasi ang image na na-build up niya sa guidance ng kanyang longtime manager, the late Ethel Ramos. From matinee idol, Aga has successfully evolved into one of today’s serious actors. His acting awards attest to his improved acting.
One distinction that Aga now holds is being the ‘leading man for all generations’. Imagine, he gets to be paired with Julia Barreto who can be more than enough his daughter in real life. Surprisingly, they are not paired as dad and daughter in the latest Viva Films offering, ‘Ikaw Pa Rin Ang Pipiliin Ko’. Mai-in love ang karakter ni Julia (Jas) kay Aga na isang music teacher sa nasabing pelikula. Hindi na bago ang ganitong May-December affair at teacher-student romance. But this time, the man’s point of view seems to be the focal point of the movie with music as creative handle.
Bukod tanging si Aga lang ang leading man na nakatambal ang tatlong henerasyon ng mga Barretto. Matatandaan na noong kabataan niya ay naging love interest niya si Gretchen Barretto sa mga pelikula gaya ng ‘Miguelito: Batang Ama’ (1985). Naging leading lady rin niya si Claudine Barretto sa pelikulang ‘Kailangan Kita’ (2002). Gretchen and Claudine are Julia’s aunties, being the sisters of her mom Marjorie.
Walang question sa galing at kaguwapuhan ni Aga. But his role in the movie as a music teacher seems to be not convincing. The seasoned actor hardly carries a tune. At sana man lang nagpapayat siya nang konti para mas convincing ‘yung physical attraction ng kanyang karakter. Actually, Aga’s waterloo is his weight. Bukod kay Aga, wala na bang ibang leading man na bagay sa karakter at kay Julia para sa pelikulang ito? Just asking…
