Acorda designates 5 officials to key PNP posts
PHILIPPINE National Police chief General Benjamin C. Acorda Jr. on Tuesday ordered a minor reorganization of key police positions which involved five senior officials.
In his first reassignment order, the top cop named his mistah from Philippine Military Academy ‘Sambisig’ Class of 1991, Police Regional Office 8 director in Eastern Visayas Brigadier Gen. Rommel Francisco D. Marbil as the Officer-in-Charge of the PNP Directorate for Comptrollership.
Marbil replaced Brig. Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., the former PRO4-A director in Calabarzon region who was named as Acting PNP Comptroller by former PNP chief, now retired Gen. Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr. last April 20 with the retirement of Major Gen. Jesus D. Cambay Jr.
Brig. Gen. Nartatez of PMA ‘Tanglaw-Diwa’ Class of 1992 was named as OIC of the PNP Directorate for Intelligence formerly headed by Gen. Acorda before he was picked by President Marcos to be his 2nd PNP chief and the 29th top cop since the PNP was established in 1991.
Brig. Gen. Vincent S. Calanoga, a member of PNP Academy ‘Tagapagkalinga’ Class of 1991 who has been the director of the PNP Human Rights Affairs Office since November 13, 2020 was named by Gen. Acorda as the acting PRO8 director.
Calanoga was replaced as PNP-HRAO director by Brig. Gen. Limuel E. Obon, a member of PNPA ‘Tagapaglunsad’ Class of 1993 who used to be assigned with the PNP Directorate for Operations.
Gen. Acorda also appointed Brig. Gen. Roger L. Quezada of the PNPA ‘Tagagpatupad’ Class of 1992 as the new Deputy Regional Director for Administration of the PRO5 in Bicol region.
The PNP chief expressed confidence that his new appointees will perform well in their assignments.
PNP Public Information Office chief Colonel Rederico A. Maranan said these new appointments reflect the PNP’s commitment in ensuring effective leadership and management across various units and offices.
Journal Group sources said the PNP Senior Officers’ Placement and Promotion Board created by Gen. Acorda is still deliberating on the next wave of reshuffle of key PNP Directorial Staff, National Operational and Administrative Support Units and Police Regional and Provincial Police Offices.
