THE Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) has scheduled 92 licensure examinations this year, drawing cheers from thousands of college graduates across the country.

These college graduates hope to pass the various PRC-administered licensure examinations to enable them to practice their profession in the country and foreign lands.

It is public knowledge that after passing the licensure examinations, like nurses, these professionals prefer to seek employment overseas, where they receive higher salary.

PRC officials should be commended for their decision to conduct board examinations despite the continued threat posed by the paralyzing coronavirus disease pandemic.

In fact, only a few public and private schools, colleges and universities have been authorized by the government to conduct limited face-to-face (F2F) classes becuase of the pandemic.

“Hindi lang mga klase, negosyo at transportasyon ang natigil dahil sa takot ng gobyerno na magkahawahawa ang mga tao. Pati PRC exams ay natigil din,” a college graduate lamented.

“That’s why we welcome the holding of 92 licensure examinations this year,” according to a lady civil engineering graduate, who plans to work abroad after passing the board exams.

In announcing the board examinations, PRC chief Teofilo Pilando Jr. said a board examinee should present his/her vaccination card in lieu of swab test results or quarantine requirement.

In fact, the PRC has been in touch with the Department of Health and Inter-Agency Task Force to ensure the health and safety of examinees and PRC personnel during the examinations.

Of course, the beleaguered Filipino people, particularly the examinees, expect the PRC to prevent the licensure examinations from becoming superspreaders of the deadly virus.
