PRESIDENT Marcos has challenged the new graduates of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) to use digital and information technology (IT) to combat crime and serve the people.

The new graduates, numbering 233, would do well to accept the timely challenge of the crusading Chief Executive from Ilocos Norte.

They are members of the 2024 “Layag Diwa Class. Of the 223, 199 will be with the PNP, while 12 will be joining the Bureau of Fire Protection.

The remaining 12 opted to enlist with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).

In his speech, President Marcos challenged the new PNP, BFP and BJMP officers to “leverage that technology that you are familiar with as aids in protecting and serving people.”

He reminded the graduates that the government, through concerned offices and agencies, is now battling cybercrime.

“Fighting those engaged in cybercrime, like human trafficking, is better said than done,” said a woman victimized by these criminals.
