Laborer collared after running amok with gun

CAMP GEN. MIGUEL MALVAR, Batangas – A laborer is facing multiple charges for allegedly threatening and shooting his gun that scared the people in Sitio Layon, Barangay Balitoc, Calatagan, Batangas, Friday.

According to the report of Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Police Col. Pedro D. Soliba to PRO-Calabarzon (Police Regional Office Cavite/Laguna/Batangas/Rizal/Quezon) Regional Director P/Brig. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez, Jr., the suspect, is a construction worker and resident of the said area.

The incident happened around 11:50 p.m. on October 14, 2022.

Calatagan Municipal Police Station (MPS) Chief P/Maj. Serafin T. Gapunuan said a resident of the said area complained to the authorities after allegedly being shot but missed by the suspect.

The police immediately responded and found the suspect holding a gun in front of their house.

The police pacified the suspect and voluntarily surrendered the cal. .45 handgun with no serial number and associated papers.

The suspect is currently in the custody of the Calatagan MPS for the corresponding disposition in filing the case of grave threats, illegal discharge of firearms, and violation of the Republic Act (RA) 10591 or “Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act”.
