PHILIPPINE National Police Drug Enforcement Agency (PNP-DEG) director Brigadier General Randy Q. Peralta yesterday announced the arrest of two “high-value targets” (HVT) in Eastern Visayas during a buy-bust operation in Tacloban City.

The official said that in partnership with the Tacloban City Police Station 2 and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, members of the PNP-DEG Special Operations Unit 8 arrested Renie Paul Lopido alias “Dimple”, 33, and a resident of Bgy. 105 Suhi, Tacloban City and John Henrey alias “Daboy”, 23, of Bgy. North Hill during a sting in Bgy. Sto. Niño around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Recovered from the possession of the two suspects were 10 grams of shabu worth P68,000 and the buy-bust money topped by a marked P500 bill, the PNP-DEG director said in a report to PNP chief General Dionardo B. Carlos.

Brig. Gen. Peralta said he has ordered the DEG SOU 8 to fully partner with the local PDEA and the Police Regional Office 8 headed by Brig. Gen. Bernard M. Banac in their conduct of more “intelligence-driven” anti-narcotics operations in the region.

Both suspects who are now being held at the DEG SOU 8 lock-up facility will be facing non-bailable charges for sale and possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, the official said.
