Chinese na’tl dead, another caught with fake gun in Cavite

IMUS CITY, Cavite – One Chinese national died on the spot, while another one was caught keeping a replica gun inside his car at the Comelec checkpoint conducted by PNP personnel, Wednesday, February 9, 2022.

Based on the report submitted by Bacoor Police chief Lt. Colonel Christopher Guste to the Cavite Provincial Police Office under Col. Arnold Abad, one Yinghao Zhang, a Chinese national residing at Barangay Panapaan, Bacoor City was shot dead by the suspect Jaime Cortez, male, Filipino and residing at Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City at close range in the head around 3:30 in the afternoon using a .38 revolver.

The suspect rode a passenger jeepney heading to Imus direction after the shooting incident and a concerned citizen who saw the incident immediately sought the assistance of Bacoor Traffic Bureau and Cavite PNP.

They flagged down the jeepney and arrested the suspect. Upon body search, police confiscated from the suspect the caliber .38 revolver he used in the crime. SOCO assistance was requested for the technical aspect of the investigation.

In Dasmariñas City, local police chief Lt. Col. Sherwin Boy Maglana of Dasma PNP arrested the suspect Xingsheng Yan, male, 30, Chinese national, married, businessman, of Bgy. Malagasang 1, Imus Cavite for poll gun ban violation.

Members of Dasma police intercepted the suspect along Governors Drive, Dasmariñas-GMA boundary Comelec checkpoint near Bgy. Paliparan 1 when the local authorities flag down a white Toyota Camry for checkpoint inspection.

Upon checking of duty police officer PSSg. Ariel Donceras Jr. and Pat. Jim Ray Parcon, they noticed one black rifle – a Swarm Fox replica at the backseat floor of the vehicle.

Local authorities ask for pertinent documents of the firearm, however, the suspect failed to produce them and stated that the rifle is just a replica.

The arrested suspect faces charges of illegal possession of firearms or violation of Republic Act 10591 in relation to Omnibus Election Code.
