Ecija councilor bet cheats death
A CANDIDATE for municipal councilor on Monday survived an ambush in Bgy. San Fernando Norte, Cabiao, Nueva Ecija.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo, the Nueva Ecija police identified the victim as Angelito dela Cruz, 67.
Dela Cruz, a resident of Bgy. San Fernando Norte in Cabiao, is eyeing for a councilor seat in the town.
Initial probe showed the victim was driving his vehicle going to Bgy. San Fernando Norte, Cabiao when upon reaching Jose Abad Santos Ave., two men on a red motorcycle suddenly appeared and fired shots at him.
The gunfires called the attention of the people in the area, prompting gunmen to immediately flee.
The councilor was left unscathed.
The Cabiao police are conducting a follow-up operation to identify and arrest the suspects.
