THE Bureau of Corrections and Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP)have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to address the behavioral modification needs of inmates and enhancing their prospects for reintegration into society.

The MOA was signed by Bucor Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr. and Dr. Elmer de Jose, Dean of PUP Graduate School.

Catapang said this initiative aims to equip BuCor personnel with the necessary skills and knowledge through comprehensive training programs crafted by PUP’s experienced faculty members and graduate students. By offering technical expertise and resources, the university seeks to elevate the quality of life for those under the care of BuCor while fostering community engagement.

Under this agreement, the PUP will assess and identify the necessary revisions for existing behavior modification modules, ensuring they are relevant and effective. Additionally, the university will provide training materials, facilitate workshops, and monitor progress to ensure the successful implementation of these programs.

On the other hand, BuCor is committed to supporting PUP’s initiatives by facilitating access to its personnel for training sessions and ensuring active participation in various activities. Regular coordination will be vital for feedback and sustainable program development, showcasing the dedication of both entities to a common cause.

Catapang said, the signing of this MOA is not just a formal agreement, it is a commitment to transforming lives through education and behavioral enhancement.

“By leveraging the strengths of both BuCor and PUP, this initiative has the potential to create a significant impact on rehabilitation efforts, promoting a path toward more productive and fulfilling futures for participants. As both organizations embark on this journey together, the community can look forward to positive changes that resonate well beyond the prison walls,” Catapang added.

Also present during the signing include, CT/SUPT Ma Cecilia V. Villanueva, Bucor OIC – Deputy Director General for Reformation and Dr. Gigi Santos, Faculty, PUP Graduate School and other officials of Bucor.
