Tribal conflict eyed in killing of 3 men in Kalinga

A TRIBAL conflict is being eyed in a shooting incident in Tabuk City, Kalinga province which left three heavily-armed men dead yesterday morning, the Cordillera Police Regional Office said.

The bodies of the victims identified as Santos, Tokar and Leo Calsiyao were found in Purok 7, Bgy. San Julian in Tabuk City.

Recovered from the victims were two M-16 automatic rifles and a 12-gauge shotgun with several live ammunition and magazines.

A Cordillera police report said the three were believed to have shot it out with unidentified suspects near the house of a barangay “kagawad.”

The victims reportedly belong to a local tribe which has been locked up in a feud with another tribe in the area.

Philippine National Police Public Information Office chief Col. Randulf T. Tuaño said the local police are currently investigating the incident and hunting down the suspects.
