THE Philippine Navy (PN) said one of its newly acquired missile boats has successfully fired its Spike Non-Line of Sight (NLOS) missile system against a target off Mariveles, Bataan on April 23.
“The PN hit another modernization milestone with the successful live-fire demonstration of the Spike NLOS missile system aboard BRP Albert Majini (PG-909),” PN spokesperson Capt. John Percie Alcos said in a message to the Philippine News Agency Friday night.
The NLOS missiles fired by the naval vessel successfully hit a target about 24 km. away, he added.
Alcos said this event is part of the PN’s “MISSILEX 2025.”
“During the exercise, the PG9-09 crew successfully launched two types of Spike NLOS missiles, a fragmentation missile, and a penetration blast-fragmentation (PBF) missile, both hitting their targets with precision,” he added.
Alcos said the exercise also featured a swarm exercise with BRP Tomas Campo (PG-908) and BRP Albert Majini showcasing precise close-range firepower and tactical coordination using a 30mm Typhoon gun and two .50 caliber Mini-Typhoon machine guns, demonstrating superior firepower and tactical maneuvering in a real-world scenario.
