“Anak ng Mahirap” meets “Batang Maynila”: Manny Pacquiao and Isko Moreno in Manila Campaign
SENATORIAL candidate Manny Pacquiao, famously known as the “Anak ng Mahirap,” joined forces with former Manila Mayor Francisco Isko Moreno Domagoso, the “Batang Maynila,” in a campaign sortie in Baseco and Sta Ana, Manila this Saturday.
Moreno a presidential contender in the 2022 elections, publicly expressed his support for Pacquiao’s Senate comeback bid.
This endorsement marks the second time a former presidential rival has thrown their support behind Pacquiao, underscoring his growing momentum as a strong senatorial contender under the administration’s slate.
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., who also bested Pacquiao in the 2022 presidential race, selected him to be part of the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial lineup.
Domagoso lauded Pacquiao’s life story as an inspiration to millions of Filipinos struggling to overcome poverty.
“Pareho kaming galing sa hirap. Hindi nakakalimot si Manny sa kanyang pinanggalingan, kaya karapat-dapat siyang bumalik sa Senado,” Domagoso said.
Pacquiao thanked Domagoso for the endorsement, promising to champion laws that will uplift the poor and ensure that no Filipino is left behind.
“Ang laban ng mahirap ay laban nating lahat, Maraming salamat sa tiwala, Mayor Isko. Sama-sama tayong magtutulungan para sa bagong pag-asa ng bayan.”
The Manila campaign of Pacquiao and Domagoso attended by thousands of supporters, also reflected a spirit of reconciliation and a shared commitment to nation-building among former political adversaries.
Pacquiao believes that he is gaining support from both administration allies and former opponents because his campaign is not just about winning a seat in the Senate. It’s about rallying the nation behind a shared dream of inclusive growth, social justice, and compassion-driven governance.
“Hindi pwedeng iwanan ang mahihirap sa biyahe ng pag-unlad. ‘Dyan natin kasama mga naniniwala sa akin. Kung magkaisa tayo, kaya nating itaguyod ang isang gobyernong tunay na para sa masa, makatao, makatarungan, at makabansa.” Pacquiao said.
