PNP-DEG agents seize over P13-M shabu, arrest 15 top targets

FIFTEEN top drug targets of the Philippine National Police-Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG) were arrested in a string of anti-narcotics operations in the countryside the past week which led to the seizure of over P13 million worth of shabu, PNP-DEG officer-in-charge Col. Rolando B. Cuya announced on Sunday.

In a report to PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, the official said that one of the suspects identified only as alias “Belinda,” a 51-year-old “high-value individual” in Central Luzon, was arrested in a sting in Bgy. Minuyan V in San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan last Saturday.

Recovered from the suspect were around a kilo of the “poor man’s cocaine” valued at P6.8 million.

Two other suspects with the aliases “Det” and “Aurora” eluded arrest and are being hunted as of press time by members of the PNP-DEG Special Operations Unit 3, and the Bulacan Police Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit.

Another “HVT” with the alias “Dos,” 52, yielded 55 grams of shabu valued at P374,000 during an anti-drug operation at Sitio Kadianoy in Bgy. Sapangdaku in Cebu City on the same day.

Members of the PNP-DEG SOU7 conducted the sting, with the support of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, the Police Regional Office 7, the Regional Intelligence Unit 7 and the PNP Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group.

The official said that a third suspect identified only as alias “Peter,” a 47-year-old “HVT” yielded approximately 775 grams of shabu worth P5.28 million during a sting in Purok 5, Bgy. Malayo Norte in Cortes, Bohol, last Thursday.

Undercover officers from the PNP-DEG SOU 7 spearheaded the anti-narcotics operation, with the help of the PNP-IMEG, the PRO7 Regional Drug Enforcement Unit, and the Cortes Municipal Police Station.

A fourth “target” identified as alias “Payat,” 41, yielded 10 grams of shabu valued at P68,000 during a buy-bust operation conducted by PNP-DEG SOU 11 officers in Saint John, Purok 12 in Bgy. 76-A, Bucana, Davao City on Saturday.

Three others with the aliases “Domeng,” 53; “Ann,” 42; and “Kwatog,” 46, were arrested in an anti-narcotics operation in Zone 8, Bgy. San Roque in Camaligan, Camarines Sur, which also resulted in the dismantling of a notorious drug den on Wednesday.

Recovered during the operation launched by the PNP-DEG SOU5, with the support of the local police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, were 12 grams of shabu worth P81,600 and several drug paraphernalia.

Four other targets identified as “Jane,” 46; “Otep,” 41; “Noge,” 41;’ and “Nhoing,” 41; were arrested in a sting in Purok 1, Bgy. VII in Mercedes, Camarines Norte last Thursday.

Recovered from the suspects were 11 grams of shabu valued at P74,800.

The 12th suspect identified as alias “Coco,” 49, was arrested in an anti-drug raid in Centro 1 in Bgy. 1 Pandan, Alaminos City in Pangasinan on Saturday, which led to the confiscation of 25 grams of shabu worth P170,000.

The 13th, with the alias “Kenjie,” yielded some P68,000 worth of shabu during a buy-bust operation in Bgy. Liwanay in Banga, South Cotabato.

Two others who were identified only as alias “Lyndon,” 42; and “Dindo,” 35, yielded 20 grams of shabu valued at P136,000 during a sting in Bgy. 96 Lumbang 1 in Tacloban City last Sunday.

All arrested suspects are facing criminal charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, said Cuya.
