
Mayor Marcos Mamay passionately supports the film industry

MAYOR Marcos Mamay of Nunungan, Lanao del Norte, is proving to be a major force in the entertainment industry, actively supporting and recognizing Filipino talent.
His presence at the 38th Star Awards for Television of the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) last March 23 at the Dolphy Theater, further cemented his dedication to celebrating outstanding performers.
Taking center stage as a presenter, Mayor Mamay, along with PMPC PRO Eric Borromeo and host John Nite, had the privilege of awarding the prestigious German Moreno Power Tandem Award.
This year’s honorees were two of the most talked-about on-screen pairs – Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino and Barbie Forteza and David Licauco.
As the audience erupted in cheers, the actors expressed their gratitude to the Star Awards and their loyal fans.
A passionate supporter of the entertainment industry, Mayor Mamay commended the awardees for their undeniable chemistry and compelling performances that have captivated audiences nationwide.
“Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino (KimPau) as well as Barbie Forteza and David Licauco (BarDa) have set a high standard in television with their exceptional portrayals,” said Mayor Mamay.

As for KimPau, their movie “My Love Will Make You Disappear,” is currently showing in Philippine theaters and registered P12 million on its first day, the highest opening day so far for a local film this year.
To date, the film raked in more than P100 million from its worldwide exhibition.. Their on-screen chemistry of KimPau gets further tested as they grace a special screening and meet-and-greet session in Los Angeles at the Cinemark Carson Theater late last March.
For BarDa, their next movie is currently in pre-production stage. Meanwhile, David’s movie, “Samahan ng mga Makasalanan,” opens in Philippine cinemas on Black Saturday, April 19.
Beyond his role in presenting awards, Mayor Mamay personally extended his congratulations to Kim Chiu for winning Best Drama Actress for “Linlang.”

Mayor Mamay’s involvement in the PMPC Star Awards is nothing new. In November, he presented the Best Actress award to Nadine Lustre for “Deleter” at the 39th PMPC Star Awards for Movies.
At that time, PMPC also and recognized JC De Vera and Janine Gutierrez as the Movie Loveteam of the Year for “Bakit Di Mo Sabihin?”
Mayor Mamay’s unwavering support for Filipino artists highlights his commitment to uplifting the industry.
As the executive adviser of the Actors Guild of the Philippines and the Showbiz Industry Alliance, Mayor Mamay extends his passion beyond award ceremonies.
He is actively involved in film production, creating opportunities for actors and movie workers, especially during challenging times such as the pandemic.
His dedication to storytelling is evident in his own biographical film shown last year, “Mamay: A Journey to Greatness.” With a star-studded cast led by Jeric Raval, Ara Mina and Teejay Marquez, megged by Neal “Buboy” Tan, the film chronicled Mayor Mamay’s inspiring journey from humble beginnings to a respected leader and delivers a powerful message of perseverance and hope.
The movie has been adapted by DepEd (Department of Education) for showing in various schools across the country last year. To create more opportunities for actors and movie workers, more projects are in the offing for his own Mamay Film Productions.
