Ecija trader held for illegal drugs, unlicensed guns

GUIMBA, Nueva Ecija – A 45-year-old businessman on Friday night was arrested after a search conducted at his house in this town yielded P141,848 worth of shabu, a plastic sachet containing marijuana, two unlicensed pistols, and several types of gun ammunition.

Nueva Ecija top cop Col. Ferdinand D. Germino said the arrested trader is a resident of Purok 2, Bgy. Cabaruan, this municipality.

The arrest was carried out on the basis of a search warrant for illegal firearms issued by the Executive Judge of the Guimba Regional Trial Court Branch 32.

Confiscated during the search were 16 plastic sachets containing shabu weighing 20.86 grams and worth P141,848, a plastic sachet containing 1.31 grams of marijuana worth P160, a cal. .9mm and a cal. .45 pistol, several magazines and bullets for the guns, and several drug paraphernalia.

The arrested suspect is now under police custody while charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002), RA 10591 (Illegal possession of firearms and ammunition), and violation of the Omnibus Election Code are being prepared for inquest-filing against him, said Germino.
