
Latest North Korea ballistic missile launch condemned
THE Philippines has expressed serious concern and strongly denounced North Korea’s latest ballistic missile launches.
“Such provocative actions undermine economic progress, peace, and stability in the Korean Peninsula and the Indo-Pacific region,” the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said in a statement Friday.
“We reiterate our call on the DPRK (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) to promptly cease these activities and abide by all international obligations, including relevant UN Security Council Resolutions, and to commit to peaceful and constructive dialogue,” it added.
On Monday, North Korea fired multiple ballistic missiles into the sea after it condemned an ongoing South Korea-United States military drills as a “dangerous provocative act”.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said the firings were detected from the North’s Hwanghae province, its fifth missile launch this year.
Seoul and Washington D.C. kicked off on Monday the annual Freedom Shield 2025 drills, which include related field exercises such as urban combat operations, mass casualty treatment and evacuation, field artillery exercises, and air assault training, among others.
The joint military exercise is expected to run until March 21. Philippine News Agency
