LET BYGONES BE BYGONES
THE female member of the Philippine National Police Special Action Force hospitalized after being struck in the forehead with a cellphone by former President Rodrigo R. Duterte’s partner Honeylet Avancena is letting bygones be bygones after all.
This as the policewoman told her superiors she will no longer pursue a direct assault against the former leader’s partner saying it’s part of the hazards of her job.
Both PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group director, Major General Nicolas D. Torrre III and PNP spokesperson, Brigadier Gen. Jean S. Fajardo confirmed the policewoman’s decision.
“Personal decision ng pulis na huwag nang magsampa ng kaso at ang reason nya ay kasama yun sa hazard ng kanyang trabaho. Kaya okay lang at magpapagaling lang daw sya at back to work na daw sya,” Brig. Gen. Fajardo said.
Maj. Gen. Torre said the policewoman will get the PNP Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting and an automatic three-day leave.
A video shared by the PNP on Thursday showed Avanceña smashing the cop’s head with her mobile phone during the 12-hour standoff at the 250th Presidential Airlift Wing’s executive lounge in Villamor Air Base where Duterte was held before he boarded a jet that brought him to The Netherlands.
The incident came as Maj. Gen. Torre, who was designated by PNP chief, General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil as the ground commander during the service of the warrant against the firebrand former Philippine leader, ordered the PNP-SAF to clear the lounge in preparation for the transfer of the latter to a waiting bus.
