THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) continues its preparations for the off-season May 12, 2025 election, which is “democracy in action.”

Last Friday, the poll body conducted an electronic raffle for the 156 party-list groups participating in next year’s fully-automated balloting

This was to determine their order in the official ballot.The printing of ballots starts in the last week of December, according to the Comelec.

The 4Ps Party-list, otherwise known as the Pagtibayin at Palaguin ang Pangkabihayang Pilpino, got the first apot in the ballot.

The Uswag Ilonggo Party, on the other hand, took the 156th spot.

Of the 156 party-list organizations, 42 are participating for the first time.

“Sa dami ng accredited party-list groups ay mahihirapang mamimili ang mga botante kasi isa lang ang dapat iboto,” a voter lamented.

“Mabuti na ‘yong maagang malaman ang numero ng isang party-list organization para hindi tayo mahirapang bumoto,” another voter added.

Sixty-three party-list seats in the House of Representatives are alloted are alloted for next year’s national and local elections.

The 63 sectoral representatives are in addition to the district lawmakers.

Unlike district solons, sectoral representatives,the President, Vice President and Senators are voted nationwide.
