Gov’t service

DON’T look now, but the government, through the Civil Service Commission (CSC), wants “dedicated individuals who are eager to serve the public.”

In fact, the CSC wants the “best minds,” including the country’s persons with disability (PWDs) and indigenous people, to join the government service.

That’s why the commission is conducting a five-day (September 2-6) jobs fair as part of this year’s celebration of “Civil Servicve Month.”

To be held in selected malls and civic centers in various parts of the country, the job fairs will offer vacancies in government offices, said CSC Chair Karlo Nograles.

Nograles also urged qualified members of the “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ)” community to look for jobs in state offices and agencies.

He vowed to continue attracting passionate talents committed to making a positive impact in our communities and upholding the values of good governance.

As a well-meaning citizen, we commend the CSC for its determination to enlist the help of PWDs, indigenous people and LGBTQ members in the gigantic task of nation-building.

“Marami sa mga taong ito ay mga karapat-dapat din na maging lingkod-bayan,” a former barangay official in vote-rich Pangasinan said.

And we expect the government and the private sector to work in unison to speed up the country’s socio-economic development.

It’s move in the right direction.
