Solid debut by Hart

MEEGAN Hart had a solid debut as Nxled upended Galeries Tower, 25-19, 22-25, 25-18, 25-27, 15-12, for a winning start in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference yesterday at the Philsports Arena.

The 6-foot-2 Hart led the way for the Chameleons with 19 points and logged seven of the team’s 18 blocks.

“It was great, we got a win so it’s always great, but I’m feeling really welcomed in the Philippines. So far, the experience has been awesome. I’m really excited to be here with the team and win a lot of games,” Hart said.

It was Hart who produced the match winner with a quick attack to wrap up the two-hour, 55-minute contest.

Nxled chose Hart as its import over Chinese Xuanyao Jiang, and it worked wonders for the squad which placed eighth in the All-Filipino Conference.

The Chameleons ushered an new era under head coach Chen Gang at 1-0 in Pool A.

May Luna, who only entered the match from the second set onwards, registered 17 points and five receptions, while Chiara Permentilla was also outstanding for Nxled with five blocks, seven kills and two service aces for 14 points.

The Highrisers were paced by France Ronquillo’s 17 kills.

“Well, very tough game para sa first game. Nandoon pa rin naman yung adjustment namin and medyo okay din yung nilaro ng Galeries talaga kaya napunta tayo sa fifth set,” said Chameleons assistant coach Raffy Mosuela.

Thai import Sutadta Chuewulim, who arrived only Monday night to replace Brazilian Monique Helena, came off the bench to score 14 points and eight receptions. Roselle Baliton and Andrea Marzan each had 12 points for the Highrisers.
