Bong Go aids families of Aghon casualties in Quezon
IN the wake of Typhoon Aghon’s onslaught across Quezon province, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, preceding his planned participation in the vibrant Pasayahan Festival, redirected his focus towards the devastated residents of Lucena City.
On Tuesday, Go’s Malasakit Team ventured into the most ravaged areas of the city, carrying not only relief but also a deep sense of shared sorrow and commitment.
“Namigay tayo ng tulong sa 500 pamilyang apektado ng pagbaha dulot ng bagyong Aghon sa Lucena City, Quezon. Nakiramay rin tayo sa namatayan doon at nagbigay ng kaunting tulong sa kanila. Nakisama rin kami sa kanilang Pasayahan Festival sa araw na iyon sa aming pagnanais na mag-iwan ng ngiti sa oras ng kanilang pagdadalamhati,” Go shared.
Among the poignant stories of loss was that of the Señado family in Barangay Ibabang Talim, a community heavily battered by the storm.
Tragedy struck the Señado household when a large mango tree branch, snapped by the fierce winds, tragically fell and fatally injured Melberto Señado, a 39-year-old single father.
His untimely demise left behind his young son, Zam, age 11, in a sudden and heartbreaking orphanhood.
In a tender response to this tragedy, Go’s team personally visited the grieving family, extending his sympathies and crucial financial support to help them navigate their immediate crisis.
The senator’s aid comforted Melberto’s aunt, Flordeliza Bautista, who now cares for young Zam.
Meanwhile, Go extended his heartfelt aid to additional grieving families, including Archie Miguel in Barangay Talao-Talao and John Rey de Ramos in Abella Compound. Both families, devastated by the loss of their loved ones, received visits from the Malasakit Team, which provided moral and material support.
Deeply moved by the families’ plight, Go emphasized the importance of community and government support during unexpected disasters.
“It is in our darkest hours that we must band together, offering not only aid but also empathy to those hit hardest by tragedy,” he remarked.
The senator’s team worked closely with local officials, including Mayor Mark Alcala and Vice Mayor Roderick “Dondon” Alcala, ensuring that the aid was swift and sensitive to the needs of the affected families.
The senator’s commitment was also reflected in his follow-up with the wider community, where over 500 households received relief goods, illustrating a broad and organized response to the disaster.

“Patuloy kaming magseserbisyo sa inyo dahil bisyo ko na ang magserbisyo at ako ay naniniwala na ang serbisyo sa tao ay serbisyo ‘yan sa Panginoon,” Go reassured.
