Antipolo sets up aid hubs for Alay Lakad devotees

WITH the devotees expected to join this year’s Alay Lakad, Antipolo City Mayor Casimiro “Jun” Ynares III said that they had set up various public assistance centers in key points leading to the International Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage or Antipolo Cathedral.

“Isa na naman ang Antipolo sa pinakadarayuhin ng mga deboto’t namamanata lalo’t opisyal nang idineklara ang Antipolo Cathedral bilang kauna-unahang International Shrine sa bansa at pangatlo sa South East Asia.

Kagaya noong mga nakaraan, bubuo tayo ng mga public assistance centers sa iba’t-ibang bahagi ng lungsod, para sa mas mapayapa, mas ligtas, at mas taimtim na pagninilay at paggunita ng Semana Santa,” Mayor Jun said.

Among the areas include: Antipolo City Hall Grounds (Parking Area) which will serve as the Incident Command Post; Sumulong Park as the Central Command Post.

Other areas with public assistance centers include: Beverly Hills, HAMAKA Park, Ninoy Aquino Park, Pinagmisahan/White Cross, Old Prutasan/Robinson, Shopwise, Licos Park, Maia Alta/Crown Asia, MLQ Extension, Sumulong/Olalia Road, Masinag Intersection, and the Blue Mountain/Our Lady of Fatima University.

Mayor Jun likewise reminded the devotees joining Alay Lakad 2024 that the following are strictly prohibited: playing loud music and making too much noise; polluting or throwing of trash; bringing deadly weapons such as guns and pointed objects; illegal drugs; and the use of drones.

“Tulong-tulong tayo para sa isang mapayapa, mataimtim, malinis at maingat na Semana Santa,” Mayor Jun said.

Earlier, Mayor Jun announced the closure and rerouting will take effect on March 28, Holy Thursday from 6 pm., to March 29, 6 am., to Good Friday.

Among the roads that will be closed include: Tikling to Shopwise; J.P. Rizal St.; P. Oliveros St.; M. L. Quezon St.; Carigma St.; San Jose St.; C. Lawis St.; Masangkay St.; Bonifacio St.; Dela Paz St.; Daang Bakal Rd.; and Marigman at Cabrera Rd.

The traffic rerouting scheme will be implemented with light and heavy vehicles from Poblacion, Antipolo and nearby area (Teresa and Angono) going to the Marcos Highway and vice versa are advised to take the following roads: Circumferential Road; Sumulong Highway and Olalia Road (for light vehicles).

For those with light vehicles from Teresa going to Manila are advised to use: M.L. Quezon Ext. then proceed to Mahabang Parang, Angono and Binangonan; and Sapang Buho for those going to Angono at Binangonan.

The Olalia Rd. and Blue Mountain will be turned into a one-way street for those going down, and will be closed to all types of vehicles from 6 pm., from March 28 to 6 am., of March 29.

The streets of Ortigas Ave. Extn. from Rotonda of Kaytikling going up to Antipolo will be closed to all types of vehicles as the PNP will be manning the area.
