PHLIPPINE National Police (PNP) chief General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar on Saturday assured their readiness to assist local government units (LGU) in the distribution of cash aid to qualified residents in areas under enhanced community quarantine.

The official said that at present, all concerned police officers are already coordinating with LGU officials to determine the assistance they require for the cash aid distribution.

Eleazar said that police personnel and LGU officials must ensure that the aid distribution in localities do not become superspreader events.

He said that their main objective is to avoid the possibility that cash aid distribution activities may turn into superspreader events, thus the need to ensure that a system is in place and there is an orderly process.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government said the distribution of cash aid in areas under ECQ could begin next week.

The Department of Budget and Management has released a total of P10.894 billion as financial aid to affected low-income individuals and households in Metro Manila alone.
