Speaker Romualdez: Marcos administration success in WEF, jobs and opportunities for Filipinos expected

INCREASED investment and employment is the objective of Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez and his delegation going to the 2024 World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland in accordance with the directive of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos, Jr.

Speaker Romualdez successfully showed the foreign investors who attended the WEF why they should invest in the Philippines.

Speaker Romualdez told foreign investors that now is the right time to invest in the Philippines and he also announced the new Maharlika Investment Fund (MIF) which will fund major projects needed by the country.

In his speech at the “Breakfast Interaction with the Philippine Delegation” at the 2024 WEF roundtable discussion, Romualdez said that the Marcos administration is making policy changes to make the country investor-friendly.

Speaker Romualdez said that the rise of the country’s economy proved that the changes made by the Marcos administration were effective and the country is expected to continue to develop.

According to Speaker Romualdez, the MIF will also be of great help in attracting investment from local and foreign investors to finance large projects that the government cannot immediately undertake.

Speaker Romualdez told foreign investors that the Senate and House of Representatives have agreed on the need to amend the economic provisions of the Constitution that limit their investment that can be placed in the country.

With the increase in foreign investors in the country, Speaker Romualdez explained that there will also be an increase in the number of jobs Filipinos can get that will help improve their living conditions.

Speaker Romualdez thanked its delegation to the 2024 WEF because it accomplished the mission of promoting the Philippines to the world as an investment destination.

The Philippine delegation to the 2024 WEF includes Maharlika Investment Corporation CEO Rafael Consing, Jr., Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Eli Remolona, ​​and Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla.

Those who met Speaker Romualdez at the forum included Pham Minh Chinh, Prime Minister of Vietnam, Srettha Thavisin, Prime Minister of Thailand, and Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Geneva.

Speaker Romualdez also invited the international business community to attend the WEF Country Roundtable in Manila in March.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is the host of the gathering and it is expected to be held at the Malacañang Presidential compound in Manila.
