QUIBOLOY RAPE CASE PROBE
CONTROVERSIAL televangelist Apollo Quiboloy fsces a Senate investigation into allegations of large-scale human trafficking, rape, sexual abuse and violence against women and children committed by his group known as Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC).
In her Senate Resolution No. 884, Senator Risa Hontiveros, who chairs the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality, will conduct an investigation in aid of legislation, in order to know if there is some truth in the allegations hurled against Quiboloy and the KOJC Church.
In the resolution, it was alleged that Quiboloy styles himself as the appointed Son of God and the leader of the KOJC Church which demands strict obedience from his full-time followers allegedly through brainwashing, psychological manipulations and constant threats of eternal damnation.
In the resolution that allegedly, Quiboloy maintains stable women called “pastorals” who occupy a prestigious position in the organization because they are tasked to perform special personal tasks and errands for the Quiboloy himself.
It was stated in the resolution that allegedly Quiboloy maintains a stable of women to perform other personal task such as washing his clothes, bathing him, cleaning his bedroom and massaging him.
It was learned that some of the alleged pastorals were still minors during their recruitment and during the period they were made to perform sexual services.
The resolution also stated that allegedly Quiboloy, coerces the members of the said organizations–many of whome are minors– to perform exploitative acts much as begging in the streets and soliciting money from strangers and those who are not able to meet their quota of monies collected find themselves severely whipped or subject to public humiliations.
Considering the crimes committed within the territorial jurisdiction of the Philippines and considering the crimes are taking place even at place, the resolution said that the Senate must investigate in aid of legislation as it was very clear that Quiboloy remains free to run the operation of KOJC.
The said probe, Hontiveros explained, will also allow the Senate to determine whether the updated law on Human Trafficking are able to cover large-scale and systematic act of trafficking done under the cover of religious organization.
It was reported earlier that Apollo Quiboloy is allegedly wanted by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation along with two other over trafficking charges too.
