A NEWLY-CONSTRUCTED 5-kilometer diversion road traversing Rosales, Pangasinan will soon be serving motorists going to other parts of eastern Pangasinan, Nueva Ecija and Nueva Vizcaya.

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar inspected on Friday the project dubbed Carmen East-West Diversion Road including the overpass across the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX).

Villar was joined in the project ocular inspection by Senior Undersecretary Rafael C. Yabut and Assistant Secretary Wilfredo S. Mallari of DPWH Luzon Operations, DPWH Region 1 Director Ronnel M. Tan, Pangasinan 6th District Representative Tyrone D. Agabas, Party List Representative Conrado M. Estrella III, DPWH Pangasinan 3rd District Engineer Tito Jesus Salvador and Rosales Mayor Susan Casareno.

“I am elated to see that with this newly-completed diversion road, we have drastically-improved the travel time from Rosales and other municipalities such as Balungao, Umingan going to Cuyapo, Guimba, Muñoz, San Jose, and Lupao in Nueva Ecija,” said Villar.

The construction of Carmen East-West Diversion Road in the amount of P519.94 million was implemented by the DPWH Regional Office 1.

In his briefing, Tan said the Carmen East-West Diversion Road Project, which was implemented to decongest traffic within the town of Rosales, covers the construction of box culvert as drainage, slope protection structures, the 38-meter Palakipak Overpass Bridge across TPLEX and the 38-meter Udiao Bridge.

“Carmen East-West Diversion Road, which is directly-connected to the TPLEX, is seen to encourage more business ventures in the area and bring economic and social benefits to the people of Rosales, and its neighboring towns,” said Villar.
