LOVI Poe’s ‘The Other Wife’ remains to be the number one movie in

Vivamax streaming channel for the second straight week. She is currently filming a new movie entitled “Seasons” in Ilocos Norte. She is paired with Carlo Aquino and with the son of Sen. Jinggoy Estrada, Jolo Estrada, who’s being introduced in this film. But while shooting “Seasons”, her performance in psychological thriller, “The Other Wife”, is getting more positive feedback for her.

“I’m so happy the film remains number one on Vivamax and I’m also honored by the reviews I’m getting as they’re all very encouraging,” she says. “I was right to accept the project as the script is very intriguing. I had great teamwork with Direk Prime Cruz and everyone. I’m just grateful to be able to work with them in this amazing project.”

What does she like in her role? “As an insecure wife, I was deglamorized as I felt i’m not good enough for my husband, si Joem Bascon. I keep on comparing myself to his childhood friend, si Rhen Escano, who is a free spirit. My character is completely opposite sa akin, so I just treated it as my playground.”

As a suspicious wife, what did she do in front of the camera? “In playing my role and to motivate myself, every morning, I compare myself to her and put myself into her shoes. She’s not really aware of what is going through her mind and she has not learned to control her emotions. Actors should be seen on screen according to what their character is, para mai-portray niya ito nang tama, and that’s what I did. But after the shoot, kailangang alisin ko ‘yung character from my system, or else I will be in trouble at baka mahawa ako sa kanyang paranoia. I have to think of puro positive thoughts naman.”

She thinks the movie is timely for those who suffer anxiety during the pandemic. “It starts as a movie about a couple trying to save their marriage, then dumating ‘yung best friend na karibal nung wife, so you’d think it belongs to the mistress genre. A lot of people won’t see where this is going but actually, it’s a mixture of two genres, the rocky marriage story mixed with a psycho thriller. I’m just very proud to be part of this unconventional movie.”

Rayver makes the right decisions in love and career

RAYVER Cruz is one former Kapamilya star who’s so happy he moved to be a Kapuso. Since he transferred to GMA-7, he is never without an assignment. He got to act in soaps like “Asawa Ko, Karibal Ko”, “Hanggang sa Dulo ng Buhay Ko” and now, “Nagbabagang Luha”.

Aside from acting, he also got the chance to show his hosting, singing and dancing talents in such shows as “The Clash” and “All Out Sundays”. In contrast, his girlfriend, Janine Gutierrez, moved from GMA to ABS-CBN and we have yet to see her appearing in a new show.

“I’m really happy sa paglipat ko sa GMA-7,” says Rayver at the zoom presscon of “Nagbabagang Luha” that will start airing in GMA Afternoon Prime starting this Monday. He plays the role that Gabby Concepcion originally played in the movie version. He is the husband of Glaiza de Castro who is seduced by Glaiza’s own sister, Claire Castro. But he has topped Gabby in the film who only had Lorna Tolentino and Alice Dixson. In his case, Rayver is given another woman who is also madly in love with him, played by Myrtle Sarrosa.

Is he also, like Alex, the character he plays, a ladies’ man in real life?

“Naku, dito lang po ‘yan sa ‘Nagbabagang Luha’ na pinag-aagawan ako ng maraming babae,” he laughs. “In real life, good boy po ako and stick to one. Ayoko po ng paiba-ibang girlfriends.”

How is it working with Glaiza de Castro in “Nagbabagang Luha”? “She’s so amazing. Ang bilis niyang makapasok sa character niya kapag sinabing take na. Ako, I have to internalize well muna but siya, impressive talaga. Para siyang may switch na on and off sa harap ng kamera.”

He’s earning so well it now looks like he’s preparing for his forthcoming wedding to Janine?

“Malayo pa ‘yun. There’s no need to rush. Dapat pagplanuhan munang mabuti. I’m just thankful na ang daming dumarating na blessings sa buhay ko and I want to thank GMA for their continued trust in me. So, sa part ko naman, di ko dapat aksayahin yun. I don’t take it for granted. I always give my best in all assignments na binibigay nila sa akin.”

He knows the right time will come for him to start his own family. “Like my brother Rodjun, ang tagal muna nilang engaged before they tied the knot. And when they did, talagang reding-ready na sila and now, they have their own baby. So ine-enjoy ko muna ‘yung pamangkin ko. Alam kong darating din naman ang tamang panahon from God as to when I can settle down and start my own family. And for sure, kapag dumating na yun, hindi ko naman itatago sa press. Isa kayo sa unang makakaalam.”
