
PARTY-LIST COALITION BACKS ROMUALDEZ
THE Party-list Coalition Foundation Inc (PCFI) expressed gratitude to Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez for leading the House of Representatives on the right track.
The PCFI has issued a statement showing support to Romualdez’ exemplary leadership and appreciation for his defense of the institution, ensuring the rightful representation of 300 legislators as mandated by the Constitution.
“Under Speaker Romualdez guidance and inspiration, the House has achieved an unprecedented highest approval rating in its history, transforming it into one of the nation’s most respectable institutions,” the statement said.
Among his extraordinary actions was the transfer of confidential funds from several civilian agencies to bolster the protection of the West Philippine Sea.
“This decision showcase his prudent and thoughtful approach, echoing our commitment as representatives to listen and respond to the voices of our kababayans,” the group said.
“It is also imperative to underscore Speaker Romualdez dedication to defending and elevating the House of Representatives. The House has flourished under his supervision, as shownb in numerous metrics that reflect his strategic and resilient administration,” the group added.
Because of all these and more, the PCFI reaffirms its support for Speaker Romualdez continued leadership.
We recognize and commend his experience and foresight in making judicious decisions that enable the House of Representatives to be in line with the aspirations of our people. Speaker Romualdez has undeniably place our institution on the right side of history.
Among those who signed in behalf of the PCFI are Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co, President of the PCFI; TGP Rep. Jose Bong Teves Jr., and Deputy Speaker and TUCP party-list Rep. Raymund Democrito Mendoza.
ACT Teachers Party-list Rep. France Castro also expressed her gratitude to Speaker Romualdez and other House party leaders for standing with her against the death threat issued by former President Rodrigo Duterte.
“I am grateful for the support and solidarity shown by House Speaker Romualdez and other party leaders during this challenging time. Their unwavering commitment to the safety and security of all lawmakers is commendable,” Castro said.
“This incident is a stark reminder of the dangers faced by those who dare to speak up and fight for the rights and welfare of the Filipino people. It is crucial that we continue to uphold freedom of expression and protect the voices of dissent in our democracy,” Castro added.
The militant solon has emphasized the importance of addressing the state of impunity that allows such threats to be made against public servants.
She called on the House of Representatives to prioritize legislation that strengthens the protection of human rights defenders and ensures their safety.
“We must work together to create an environment where lawmakers and activists can carry out their duties and advocacies without fear of reprisal. It is our responsibility to safeguard the democratic space and protect those who champion the rights of the marginalized and vulnerable,” she stated.
It can be recalled that Duterte has threatened to kill Castro for criticizing Vice President Sara Duterte with regards the confidential funds she spent in just 11 days amounting to P125 million.
