Jillian rejects Will as loveteam but willing to try again
WILL Ashley is elated to be part of the Kapuso stars who guest regularly in “Regal Studio Presents”. At the show’s 2nd anniversary presscon, he’s introduced with Althea Ablan as they are paired in the coming episode, “Poster Boy”, where he plays the title role no less.
“I’m really thankful po to Tita Roselle Monteverde for their trust in me,” he says. “Kinuha rin po nila ako before in Regal’s ‘Mano Po 3: The Flower Sisters’ na maganda rin ang role ko.”
In the hit series, “Prima Donnas 1 and 2”, Will was paired with Jillian Ward. It’s said that Sparkle wanted to launch them as a love team, but Jillian begged off as she prefers to go solo. So how is he and Jillian now?
“We’re okay naman po,” he says. “But we seldom see each other now kasi may kanya-kanya kaming projects. Nasa ‘Unbreak My Heart’ po ako on primetime and she’s in ‘Abot Kamay na Pangarap’ in GMA Afternoon Prime.”
Did he feel bad that Jillian decided to go solo? “Not really. Ang management po ang nagde-decide what is best for us and, as of now, okay naman po sa akin na nagsosolo rin ako kasi there’s more opportunity to explore the possibilities for myself as an actor who can work with anyone and play different kinds of roles. I think blessing din namang hindi kami ang magka-permanent love team kasi we can have our own individual careers. Ako po, nagkasunud-sunod ang projects ko.”
Aside from the TV series “Unbreak My Heart” where he is paired with Bianca de Vera, he is now also doing a movie, “X & Y”, directed by Adolf Alix. It’s about a May-December affair and he will be paired with Ina Raymundo. He’s 21 and Ina is 47 so there’s a great disparity in their ages. How does he feel about it?
“Okay naman po. I always welcome new experiences and si Miss Ina, mas matagal na siya sa industry kaysa sa akin and I am sure na marami po akong matutuhan in working with her. Nag-start na po kami ng shoot and she’s so nice. Sabi pa niya, mas matanda pa raw yung ibang anak niya kaysa sa akin.”
It’s said they will have a love scene. Is he ready for it? “Yes po. I am really preparing myself for that. First time ko gagawin ang mag-love scene so, siempre, kinakabahan po ako. But with the help of Miss Ina and Direk Adolf, I’m sure maitatatawid naman po siguro yun nang maayos.”
In Regal’s “Poster Boy”, he plays a picture on the poster that Althea Ablan falls in love with and Althea’s ardent wish to meet him causes magic that brings the poster boy into life. So how is it working with Althea?
“Okay naman po kasi we’ve worked na before in ‘Prima Donnas’ pero dito, kami talaga ang magkapareha. It’s a fun love story told with magic realism and I’m sure matutuwa po ang viewers kapag pinanood nila ito.”
In the future, would he willing to be paired with Jillian Ward even if she had rejected him as ka-love team?
“Well, we’re with the same network, so I’m not closing my doors. It’s up to GMA management kung pagtatambalin kami uli and ako, for me, okay lang naman, kasi trabaho po yun and I’m a professional, a good soldier.”
