PAMANTASAN ng Lungsod ng Maynila Board of Regents chairman Atty. Jose ‘Joe’ Ngaw filed his resignation effective, Thursday, September 28, 2023

In his letter to Manila Mayor Maria Sheilah ‘Honey’ Lacuna, Ngaw expressed his gratitude for the opportunity given to him to serve Manila’s top state university.

“I wish to thank the city for this opportunity to serve PLM for the past four years, a period which I will fondly look back on as my attempt in paying back the city where I was born.

In a separate letter addressed to the PLM community, Ngaw said serving the PLM was a great privilege for him.

“Over the years of my engagement at PLM, I witnessed the remarkable performance of our students, the hardwork and dedication of the academic, non-academic and support staff in the entire organization,” said Ngaw.

He stressed that these accomplishments, validated by the outstanding results of PLM students in a long and consistent line of government licensure examinations over the years, “is a no mean feat, considering the less than ideal funding support it received from government, both from the city level and the national level.”

“From the bottom of my heart, with full candor and sincerity, I wish to thank all my co-workers for the assistance, cooperation and friendship extended to me, which made my stay exceedingly memorable,” said Ngaw.

Ngaw has been a member of the PLM Board of Regents since 2019 and prior to this, he once served as corporate legal counsel of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).

Ngaw had many years of experience in the corporate sector as well as in non-government organizations (NGOs) notably for being a former trustee at the University of the East-Ramon Magsaysay (UERM) Memorial Hospital.

During his stint with PLM, Ngaw maintained keen interest in initiating discussions for cross-border collaboration on education and research with international education institutions and helped welcome the officials of the National Cheng Kung University of Taiwan (NCKU) who visited PLM in October 2022.
