MartinTHE Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) continues to strengthen its presence in the House of Representatives by welcoming new members, Laguna’s 1st District Rep. Ma. Rene Ann Matibag and 3rd District Rep. Loreto “Amben” Amante, bolstering the party’s representation in the bigger chamber to 73 members.

Apart from the House members, Lakas-CMD also embraced two new members from Laguna, Liliw Mayor Ildefonso Monleon and Calauan Mayor Roseller Caratihan, who have aligned themselves with the party’s values and principles.

The oath-taking ceremony, a symbol of their commitment to the party’s vision, was administered by none other than Lakas-CMD president and Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez in a simple ceremony held at the Batasan Complex in Quezon City last Wednesday.

Speaker Romualdez expressed his enthusiasm in welcoming these new members, emphasizing the party’s commitment to unity and collaboration in the pursuit of a better Philippines.

“Our party is a coalition of dedicated public servants who share a common goal – to serve the Filipino people with integrity and dedication. With the addition of Representatives Ma. Rene Ann Matibag and Loreto Amante, along with Mayors Ildefonso Monleon and Roseller Caratihan, we are not only growing in numbers but in strength and diversity,” Speaker Romualdez, the leader of the 310-strong House of Representatives, said.

The House chief noted that Matibay and Amante bring extensive experience and dedication to the party, having served their respective districts with distinction.

He emphasized that their decision to join Lakas-CMD serves as a testament to the party’s renowned track record of effective leadership and unwavering commitment to the welfare of the Filipino people.

He added that, on the other hand, Mayors Monleon and Caratihan, both esteemed leaders in their communities, share the party’s vision of progress and sustainable development.

Their inclusion in the party is expected to further strengthen the party’s presence at the local government level, he said.

“Lakas-CMD remains steadfast in its dedication to nation-building and looks forward to the contributions of these new members in shaping the future of the Philippines. With unity, diversity, and shared values as its cornerstones, Lakas-CMD is poised to continue its legacy of service to the nation,” Speaker Romualdez said.

In May, Speaker Romualdez welcomed and administered the oath to Bukidnon Rep. Jonathan Keith Flores, marking him as the party’s 71st House member.
