QCPD nets 16 suspects, seizes 17 guns in gun ban

QUEZON City Police District chief Police Brigadier General Redrico Maranan said 16 suspects have been arrested and 17 firearms have been seized in Quezon City in connection to the gun ban of the Commission on Elections from August 28 to September 11, 2023.

The suspects and firearms came from the 15 operations by the following police stations and units:

La Loma Police Station (PS 1) under PLt. Col. Romil Avenido arrested three suspects and confiscated three firearms.

Talipapa Police Station (PS 3) under PLt. Col. Morgan Aguilar arrested two suspects and two firearms.

Novaliches Police Station (PS 4) under PLt. Col. Jerry Castillo arrested four suspects and seized four firearms.

The Batasan Police Station (PS 6) under PLt. Col. Paterno Domondon Jr. arrested three suspects and confiscated three firearms.

In addition, four suspects were apprehended and four firearms were confiscated by the operatives of the Holy Spirit Police Station (PS 14) under PLt. Col. May Genio.

The District Special Operation Unit (DSOU) under PMaj. Jun Fortunato arrested one suspect and seized one firearm.

The suspects will be charged with violation of R.A. 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act in relation to Omnibus Election Code (COMELEC gun ban).
