
PNP chief orders probe of young cop’s killing
PHILIPPINE National Police chief General Benjamin C. Acorda Jr. on Tuesday ordered a thorough investigation into the mysterious death of a young policeman in Wao, Lanao del Sur.
The dead policemen was identified as Pat. Dabuco, who was listed as a ‘missing person’ in Kalilangan town last June 23.
The puzzling death of the young policemen was discovered when members of the Wao Municipal Police Station received a report regarding a decomposing male body found at the Marudagao River in Purok 2, Barangay Panang in Wao municipality.
After getting the report, Wao policemen, with the help of officers from the Kalilangan MPS and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion of the Police Regional Office-10, went to the crime scene to investigate.
Officers who retrieved the man’s body from the river said that it matched the description of the missing policeman.
The remains were transferred to the Kalilangan Provincial Hospital in Bukidnon for further investigation and examination by the Scene-of-the-Crime-Operations of the PNP Forensic Group.
Gen. Acorda expressed his grief over the discovery of the cop’s body and assured the public that the PNP is committed to diligently pursuing this case and ensuring a thorough and fair investigation.,
“The loss of one of our own is a profound tragedy.
We will spare no effort in uncovering the truth behind this incident and holding accountable those responsible,” he said.
Last June 28, the Kalilangan MPS took the affidavits of several ‘Persons of Interest’ regarding the death of the police officer.
The details of their involvement and the nature of their interest are currently under investigation, said the PNP chief even as he urged anyone with relevant information to the case to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
