Solo parents, PWDs asked to claim monthly allowance
MANILA Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan has called the attention of solo parents and persons with disability (PWDs) who failed to claim their monthly allowance for the first quarter of the year to coordinate with the Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW) to claim their money.
Mayor Lacuna-Pangan said qualified solo parents and PWDs had already received a total of P1,500 updated allowance representing their P500 monthly stipend from January to March this year but some of them still have not claimed their money.
The mayor explained that from the 30,046 total PWDs, only 19,993 beneficiaries claimed their allowance for the first quarter of the year, wherein 1,117 were invalidated or no longer in the list of qualified beneficiaries, while 8,936 have not yet claimed their allowance.
For solo parents, the mayor said that out of 17,098 total beneficiaries, 10,968 had claimed their allowance, while a total of 903 had already been invalidated totaling 5,230 unclaimed allowance.
“Bigyan ko po kayo ng mga kadahilanan kung bakit na-invalidate sila, maaari po siguro, unang-una, hindi na po sila solo parent. Kasi pagpaumanhin po ninyo, medyo po mahigpit po tayo dito dahil mayroon tayong mga kababayan na kine-claim nila na sila ay solo parent pero kapag sila ay dinalaw sa kanilang tahanan ay hindi naman sila solo parent,” the mayor explained.
