WALONG miyembro ng Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) ang sumuko sa tropa ng militar upang makapagbagong buhay at mamuhay ng tahimik kasama ang kanilang mga pamilya sa magkahiwalay na insidente sa Sulu.

Ayon kay Maj. Desford M. Masirag, chief ng Public Affairs Office (PAO) ng 11th Infantry Division (ID) ng Philippine Army (PA), anim na bandito ang sumuko kay 1103rd Infantry Brigade (IB) Commander Col. Taharuddin P. Ampatuan.

Isinuko din ng mga dating bandito ang anim na armas sa headquarters ng 1103rd IB sa Camp Bud Datu, Barangay Tagbak, Indanan, Sulu.

Nauna rito, dalawang bandido rin ang sumuko kay Brig. Gen. Giovanni T. Franza, commander ng 1102nd Infantry “Ganarul” Brigade.

Sumuko ang mga bandido sa harap ni Kalingalan Caluang Mayor Nurshamier A. Halun.

Ayon kay Maj. Gen. Ignatius N. Patrimonio, commander ng Joint Task Force (JTF) Sulu at 11th Infantry “Alakdan” Division, ang pagsuko ng mga miyembro ng ASG ay nangangahulugan na nakakamit na ng gobyerno ang layuning manumbalik ang kapayapaan sa Sulu.

“This is a clear manifestation that we are achieving our common goal of inclusive peace and sustainable development in the province. Rest assured that with our active collaboration with the local government units (LGUs) of Sulu, we will assist the said ASG returnees in availing the government programs which could benefit them and their families,” pahayag ni Patrimonio.

“The security landscape of Sulu is continuously improving. I, therefore, urge the remaining ASG remnants to lay down your firearms and live peacefully with your families while you still can,” dagdag pa ni Patrimonio.

Matatandaang simula Enero 2023, umabot na sa 59 ASG members ang sumuko sa JTF Sulu, kung saan 33 armas din ang narekober.
