P40.8- shabu seized from Madagascar woman
AGENTS of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Drug Interdiction Task Group arrested a 41-year old female Malagasi Republic (formerly known as Madagascar) national for smuggling some six kilograms of shabu worth PP40.8 million on Sunday evening at the NAIA Terminal 1 in Pasay City.
PNP Drug Enforcement Group director Brigadier Gen. Narciso D. Domingo identified the suspect as Randriamparany Harisoa Sandra, a stock trader with a given address at Lot 156 Ambodinisotry, Antananarivo, Madagascar.
The official said that the suspect arrived in the country on board Ethipian Airline Flight ET 644 from Addis Ababa, Ethipia and was placed under arrest around 9:45 p.m. Sunday at the NAIA Terminal 1 Customs International Arrival Area by members of the NAIA-IADITG.
Seized from the suspect was a black luggage with assorted clothes, shoes and an improvised pouch found containing the huge volume of shabu.
The pouch was covered with carbon paper and sealed with packing tape in an obvious effort to hide its contents.
However, NAIA-IADITG authorities suspected it was containing drugs when it passed through an x-ray machine prompting them to subject it to further cursory examination.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency will also file criminal charges for smuggling of drugs against the suspect under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, said PDEA chair Director General Moro Virgilio M. Lazo.
Last Friday, NAIA-IADITG operatives also arrested in a controlled delivery operation in Pasay City a woman who claimed a parcel containing nearly P80 million of shabu.
Anie Rose Macasa Servano,33, was charged with violation of RA 9165 for importation of prohibited drugs.
The suspect was arrested at the NAIA Complex in Pasay City after claiming the parcel was shipped by a certain Aimex General Trading with address at Plot Khasra No. 1310/95 Main Umer Khan Road, Near Edan Academy Main GT Road, Link Kambo Sto, Lahore Punjab, Pakistan.
The parcel was found containing a total of 11,756 grams of shabu valued at P79,940,800 during an x-ray examination and cursory check.
