65 BFP officials promoted to full-fledged colonel
THE Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has approved the promotion of 65 officials of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to the rank of Senior Superintendent (full fledged colonel) – the most number of promotions in years.
Secretary Eduardo Ano tapped Undersecretary for Public Safety Nestor Quinsay Jr. to administer the oath-taking of the new promoted fire officials Wednesday morning held at the Napolcom-DILG building in Quezon City.
In his message read by Quinsay, Ano reminded the new full-pledged colonels that the rest of the Filipino people including him are expecting that this achievement will translate into bigger milestones not only for their respective personal glory but more importantly for the betterment of the entire bureau.
“This promotion serves as your stepping stone for higher altitude of public service for higher altitude of public service,” the DILG chief said.
BFP chief Director Louie Puracan said that the promotion was part of the bureau’s modification of rank structure which was approved by the Department of Budget and Management on November 11 last year.
Under the revised rank distribution, the BFP should have one Fire Director which is the Bureau head; a total of 32 fire generals; 125 Senior Superintendents (full-fledged colonel); 207 Superintendents (colonel); 213 Chief Inspectors (major); 737 Senior Inspectors (captains) and 898 Inspectors (lieutenants).
The BFP should also have 1,037 Senior Fire Officers IV or SFO4; 1,421 SFO3s; 1,989 SFO2s; 3,483 SFO1s; 4,465 FO3s; 6,730 FO2s and 11,948 FO1s.
On December 23, 2021, Christmas was literally merry for the 8,641 officers and personnel of the bureau who got their promotion on December 23 or two days before the world-wide celebration of the saviour’s birth.
According to Ano, last Wednesday’s event was a living proof that the government recognizes each employee’s dedication to the call of duty and inspires others to be responsible and excellent in the delivery of services to the people.
“Ngayong panahon ng krisis, lalong kinakailangan ng ating bayan ang huwarang lingkod-bayan handang magsakripisyo para makamit ang tagumpay para sa lahat. Kaya naman ako ay umaasa na ang pagkakilang ito ay lalong magpapasigla sa inyong dedikasyon at kagustuhang manilbihan sa bayan at ng sa gayon ay pamarisan kayo ng inyong mga kasamahan sa serbiyo” Ano added.
