521 Trading-Mapua in second win

521 Trading Inc.-Mapua outsteadied Magniificient Manila, 90-88, to register its second straight win in the 2023 Pilipinas Super League-NCR leg 18-under category at the San Andres Sports Complex.

Nicolo Alfonso Mulingtapang and Sean Choncey Salvador provided the firepower to lead the 521 Trading of businessman-sportsman Engr Teddy Javines and coach Yong Garcia to another victory in this 10-team tournament.

Mulingtapang, who was named Manila Bankers “Super Player of the Game”, scattered a game-high 29 points while Salvador had 16 points for 521 Trading, which is composed of Mapua junior players.

Carl Albert Rodriguez, Joaquin Sebastian Coronel, Ronnie Go and Noah Matteo Banal also played well for 521 Trading-Mapua, which is being managed by Louie Zavalla Leyva.

Assisting Garcia are Nani Epondulan, Paolo Gorospe, Jeff Tajonera, James Ongpin and Carlito Martinez and team consultant Alex Tan

In the other NCR leg matches, Farm Fresh-Letran subdued Mandaluyong Namayan Tigers, 90-88 for its fourth straight win and the solo lead, and New Era University downed Taytay Builder, 87-79, for its first win in five games.

Andy Gemao topscored with 32 points for Letran-Farm Fresh Milk, but its was Jonathan Manalili’s buzzer-beating layup that clinched the win for Letran.

Zeon Martin had 12 points for New Era University.

The tournament is organized by PSL president Rocky Chan and vice president Ray Alao and sponsored by Manila Bankers Life, Kaiser International, Net25, Converge and Dumper Party List. AA
