Fire drill turns real, flames spark in QC school, 5 hurt

FIRE broke out in a private school in Quezon City after having a fire drill on Friday morning that resulted to the injuries of five people.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)’s National Capital Region field office said fire at the Starland International School along 12th Avenue in Barangay Socorro started at around 8:59 a.m. and was declared fire out at around 10:18 a.m.

Arson probers said the fire, which reached second alarm, originated at the storage room. It then spread to other areas within the campus.

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) said five people were treated for minor injuries related to the fire. Four our of those hurt were firefighters while the last is a school teacher.

It was learned that the school had just conducted a fire drill when the fire broke out.

At least 175 students and faculty members evacuated and brought to safety.

BFP said the cause of the fire and damage it brought are still under investigation.
